Our home is burning. Rapid climate change is destabilizing our world. It seems our emissions will not fall quickly enough to avoid runaway warming and we may soon hit tipping points that will lead to the collapse of ecosystems and our civilization.
While scientists, activists and much of the younger generation urge action, it appears most politicians are not committed to do anything meaningful while the fossil fuel industry still works actively against change. It seems humanity can’t overcome its greed and obsession with short term profit and personal gain to save itself.
And so for many the future looks grim and hopeless. Young people feel particularly anxious and depressed. Instead of looking ahead to a lifetime of opportunity they wonder if they will even have a future or if they should bring kids into this world. It’s an age of doom and hopelessness and giving up seems the only sensible thing to do.
But that’s not true. You are not doomed. Humanity is not doomed.

I was gonna bring up the concept of carbon recapture from Civilization VI. Then you brought it up (but not specifically from Civ 6) and said it already exists. That's really cool, I didn't know that, and I'm glad it's true!

Breaking news, there is a new greenhouse gas! Here is how a website describes it: "SULFUR HEXAFLUORIDE: THE NIGHTMARE GREENHOUSE GAS". Sound like we really need to worry! As usual, the first thing that I want to know is how much is actually in the air, which you notice that they don't tell you. Turns out it is 3 parts in a TRILLION! No that's not a mistake. Isn't it incredibly obvious that such an infinitesimally small amount cannot possibly be raising the temperature of the atmosphere? The air is 98% nitrogen and oxygen, and the scientists say that neither one absorbs any heat to the air, which is absurd. However, there is a gas that is 3 parts out of a trillion, and that is a danger to the environment. Just to put that in perspective, 1 part per million is equal to 1 million parts per trillion. What greenhouse gas is next and how little will be in the air? 5 parts per trillion trillion? People say that they want to believe that the scientists cannot be wrong. However, when they say nonsense like the above that cannot possibly be true, and they don't even check to see how little is in the air, then how can they claim that we should believe what they say? CO2 is only 400 parts per million, methane is about 1 part per million, nitrous oxide is 333 parts per billion and all those numbers are extremely small, so the amount of heat that they could add to the air is also very small. Another web page says about SH, "The atmospheric concentration of the highly-potent greenhouse gas SF6 has never been higher." Really! It's never been higher than 3 parts per trillion? Who would have thought it?

Is carbon capture really viable though? Currently carbon capture consumes big amounts of energy. So much so that you would need a power plant just for the carbon capture plant to work. Without energy generated by renewables that wouldn’t make any sense at all. Experts like Jean Marc Jancovici seem very confident about this carbon capture not being viable at all.
But andrew Tate says there is nothing like climate change😢
At first I thought it was hopeless, that humanity wasn't doing anything. After watching this video I realized its not as hopeless as I thought, now we still need to take ALOT more action, but knowing Im not alone really helps. God bless all those wonderful, wonderful people who are taking action to save our planet right now. Earth depends on us and we have a choice. Take it or leave it.

I don’t really like talking about carbon capture as a solution—it’s remarkably inefficient, and looks to me to be more of a short-term solution if that—but if we have enough energy left over, it could be a way to give us some gasoline cars, as a treat.

I could literally cry right now. I’ve been fighting off panic attacks and catastrophizing for the last several days. I’ve been so terrified about what may come of our future as a species, and to not only hear that there’s hope but to see growing evidence that our efforts are beginning to make a difference invigorates me to keep moving forward and do whatever I can to contribute to these solutions. 😭
It’s all beautiful, but it seems that an increasing number of people in today’s world disagree with the seriousness of climate change. In Europe, nationalist populism is gaining ground, which either wants to move net zero targets beyond 2050’s or cancel net zero entirely. Same in the U.S. Asia is becoming increasingly sectarian and they still lack resources for a proper green transition. Africa is rising, but still stifled by combination of exploitation, rapid population growth, lack of resources etc. In this light, I don’t feel hopeful. With the current trends in many societies today, I’d say we will be the final nail in our own coffin
