Everybody should plant trees whereever they can and put solar panels on every roof. Fill them up and stop covering up carbon absorbing peanut farmland with solar panels (Carter never did make a lot of sense.)

Starting with reducing instead of giving up already makes a difference! Taking action requires a start after that we can work on stepping towards giving up.

Sam Lair says:

In order to begin to stay sane in an insane world facing anthropogenic climate change, ‘know and accept’ that we are not going to be able to make sufficient changes needed in order to mitigate global warming in time to avoid great suffering that will result from dramatic ecosystem changes. The only real question remaining is the scope of continuing extinction events and whether or not ‘Homo sapiens’ will be on that list….

What is misleading about this video is that it overly emphasizes only individuals responsibility to cut emission when we should be mandating that industry and corporations be held accountable and bear the burden of emissions cuts by fundamentally altering their day to day economic activities.

So why don't we just go plant a few billion trees?
… Because there are already three trillion trees on Earth. The benefit of planting one tree is effectively zero, other than they look nice.
But, if we planted a few million, directly in the smoggiest parts of Shanghai, we could probably make life better for several million people. And that's not nothing.
Assuming the smog doesn't kill them, of course, as trees can't live without sunlight.
